Did you ever wonder why some projects go well
while others just go on and on? It all boils down to planning and execution,
two areas where there's just no substitute for experience. Our work with
the design and manufacturing of products has taught us that designing
systems is all about how these systems will be used in the "real world".
Designs that look great on paper don't always work as well, and the most
functional and effective systems aren't always the most elaborate. In fact,
we've authored several articles on systems design, including
Giving Users What They Want, and
Designing Systems for People Who Use Them.
With experience in designing some of the largest integrated systems in
the world, our team is ready to put that knowledge to work for you. From
casinos around the world (including some on the water) to corporate
facilities, to training and demo rooms, we can ensure that the environment
compliments the equipment and the operator. There are a multitude of design
elements that can make a system more effective and we're happy to work
through them with you.
But the design is just the beginning. To translate great ideas into
reality, effective planning and documentation are critical. The
article
Project Documentation for the End User explains how we do this with
our own designs, and we can work with you to make your designs easily
understood as well.
On a project that we've designed and documented, it is difficult to
evaluate how well our Project Management services work for our
clients. Our philosophy is discussed in
Efficient Project Management, but to sum it up, things just seem to
follow the plan. Our skills are truly put to the test when we are asked to
step into an existing project and "clean up the mess." If there's a project
with unresolved issues that just seem to go on forever, give us a call. Our
experience on the product, troubleshooting, and manufacturing side will
really serve you well.
An excellent example of all of these services at work together can be
found in the story on Mystic Lake Casino, one of the largest video
surveillance systems in the world. We worked with them to create a new
control room and convert 1,800 cameras to digital recording. You can read
all about it in "Sailing
the Security Waters of Mystic Lake" in the March 2006 issue of
Security Sales & Integration magazine.
